5 Eco-Friendly Tips on Regulating Room Temperature

The worsening effects of global warming can bring in extreme cases of hot and cold weather, impacting the living conditions of everyone around the world. And even if you’re lucky enough to not experience the devastating outcomes such as being in the vicinity of wildfires, floods, droughts, and blizzards, you would still face the misfortune of having very hot or very cold days within the confines of your own room. The immediate response to this would be to turn on the air-conditioning or room heaters (to beat the heat and the chill respectively), but they tend to be harmful if used repeatedly — if not for your health, then for the health of the environment. So, here are five random tips (based on personal experience) that can be used to establish an eco-friendly, safe and simple environment for your rooms.

  • Finding company in potted plants: For obvious reasons, this would be our first recommendation when it comes to sprucing up any household. Plants aren’t there just for their appeal; they can purify the air in your room, which includes absorbing carbon dioxide — the primary greenhouse gas that contributes to heating your room, as well as stabilizing humidity. Some plants — such as mint, marigold, lavender, rosemary, geranium, and even catnip — can go the extra mile by protecting your room from many insect species — especially mosquitoes. This would…
