A Tidbit about Greenhouse Gases
The Earth is like a bubble, its atmosphere is composed of multiple layers that not only sustain the planet within but also shield us from certain outside threats such as ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Among these valuable layers is the ozone layer situated in the stratosphere, which bears the brunt of absorbing most of the harmful UV radiation and preventing them from reaching us.
However, this layer isn’t without its weaknesses. It can be prone to thinning out upon reacting with certain components from both sides. This particular tidbit will focus on an enemy within — a monster of our own creation, so to speak — as well as the effects it causes and how it may come across as a recipe for disaster if we continue to let these effects linger on and worsen.
The ozone layer may serve as a shield, but it also traps some elements inside, letting them accumulate or build up and fester until it becomes a much bigger problem than what they initially let on. The physical manifestation of this problem exists in the form of global warming, which in turn causes the adverse effects of climate change that we see aplenty today.
The cause of global warming has its own mechanisms as well. As previously mentioned, the ozone layer absorbs most of the UV radiation; whatever passes through is absorbed by the earth’s surface, either turning into heat or…
